PowerAid III Rolling Road event with Ecotune

What a day. What a day!

This had a lot to live up given previous events with Ecotune but it certainly delivered and raised over £2600 for charity.

Our Rolling Road days have been very popular in the past; especially those held with Ecotune in Hillington. It’s been a while since we last had one, so it was reassuring to see there was still a lot of interest in the format. This was confirmed when we filled up all the spaces for the event in under an hour!

This time round, MND Scotland (Motor Neuron Disease) was selected as the charity to benefit. This is particularly of note in this area given the plight of former Glasgow Rangers captain, Fernando Ricksen, who is fighting the horrible condition. It doesn’t matter what your football allegiances are; everyone is touched by the troubles faced by Fernando.

Ecotune have boosted what was already an excellent facility for these types of events with all the facilities you’d expect including an indoor seating area with LCD screens for the results and windows into the dyno area. The workshop has now been separated and there is now a dedicated cell for the rolling road.

The results were broadly as expected. The graph would have been fairly steady if it hadn’t have been for Stan’s insane Audi RS6 skewing all of the figures!

The Rolling Road wasn’t the only focus of the day. We also held a Show and Shine competition courtesy of The Detailers Box. The standard of entries was very high; this was unexpected given the event was held in October. Lewis Currie took the prize with his beautifully presented Subaru Impreza WRX STI as chosen by our mystery judge!

A couple of weeks after the event, Craig and Al returned to Ecotune to help hand over the cheque to Iain McWhirter of MND Scotland for the money raised. Shout out to Mazda MPS owners who also had a day with Ecotune and raised over £500 and this sum was included in the grand total of over £3200.

The raffle (which proved very popular yet again) allowed us to reach that incredible figure. We couldn’t have done this without the support of the sponsors for the day:

Sincere thanks to everyone who attended, helped out, donated something or put their hand in their pocket. Special thanks to Stan, Laura, Campbell, Andrew, Andrew, Danny, Jillian and the rest of the Ecotune team.
